  1. Greg,

I enjoyed the professional nature of your PEST analysis of the comic book industry. This area of trade is foreign to me. What I did not appreciate is the role the US government plays in shaping policy on digital trade through its legislative and regulatory processes. I had no idea how big the global comic book industry was.

The growing niche market and value proposition of providing education content to an educated audience was also unknown.
From a regulatory standpoint, examples I found are the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Both establish legal frameworks for digital trade and intellectual property protection.

In recent years, the US government appears to have focused on issues such as data localization, cross-border data flows, and intellectual property protection in digital trade negotiations. And the government has been involved in promoting interoperability and open standards to support digital trade and innovation. Enjoyed the PEST analysis.

  2. Hi Greg,

I enjoyed your PEST analysis. I learned a lot something new about the comic book business. I didn’t realize or ever think that there were specific regulations around the comic book business.

There were things that I never considered when it comes to comic books.

Thank you for the insight on this business.

    Great post!

  3. Hi Greg, the PEST analysis of the comic industry you created is very informal and contains a lot of information I have not known before. The tax policies of royalties was interesting to me as well as the foreign policies. One question that popped up in my mind is, how would one establish royalties overseas translated the comic book to another language.

Thank you for sharing the analysis.

    Valentina
